ETL is software which allows the user to extract data from an outside source, transforming it to fit business needs, and then loading it into a data
warehouse. It is usually constructed as a form of Client Server architecture. Operationally, the client runs Development and Administrative tools; and the
server manages the data. Importantly, the data used in ETL comes from a wide range of sources, all of which ETL can accommodate, such as :

- Excel spreadsheets
- ... even message files.
